I like to question things. I wasn’t sure of recycling worked a while ago. It seems like most recycling does not work.

Recycling really seems uneffective when you think about it. The garbage gets moved which costs fuel and energy is needed to process it. How can that even help and what happens?

The recycling which works is usually recycling which you get money for. Most recycling is a lie. It is sad, but there are still things which we can do. It is a wonder that many people believe that all recycling helps.

I am not saying that you should not recycle. The garbage has to go somewhere and it is better for the enviroment if not everyone has to drive to some place with a ton of garbage.

Penn & Teller: Bullshit! has an episode which shows how recycling worked. You can find it on BitChute.

Keep in mind that this problem is different for every country. There are things which do work. I just don’t find it ethical to spread lies.

What can we do?

Is there a solution?

It will take a long time before an solution can be created. I think that it is possible, but it is difficult. We can at least care about the problem and work on it.

Don’t have kids

More people means more people who create garbage. You might not like this, but not having kids helps. You don’t have to follow this advice, and I understand that some people like kids.

Use less

Some people call using less, minimalism. I like that, but not everyone means the same when they use the word.

I mean buying things or making decisions based on what you need instead of what you want with minimalism. It is a state of mind. This does not mean that you can’t have pictures and memories. You can do it in a extreme way, but you don’t have to.

Minimalism has other advantages as well. You can find things faster, since you have less stuff to look through. Less stuff means more money. Less stuff means less garbage.

Minimalism does not mean that you give up all convenient things. You can take it that far, but you don’t have to.

Take care of your stuff

Your stuff should last longer when you are more careful with it. Looking at which product is the best option also helps, since it might last longer as other products.

Use things which last longer

Compare a plastic water bottle and a glass water bottle for example. You can refill the bottles, but people often throw the small plastic bottles away. Those bottles become garbage. The glass bottle does not, unless someone breaks it.

Plastic bottles might last long for you. This is just an example to show what I mean.

Spread the word

Tell people about the problems and explain why they should care. Please do so in a respectful way.
